Seeing a concert at Jones Beach in Wantagh is pretty much one of the coolest things you can do on Long Island. The venue is right on the water, and every seat has a great view. Back in my day (man, I'm old), it was known as Tommy Hilfiger at Jones Beach. I saw my first concert (Boston) there back in 2003. During my years in Florida, the theater turned into Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.
Truth be told, I never really investigated the vendors when I would come here for concerts. After a day at the beach, I went over to the theater to get ready for the show. My friend Patty and I got to the venue a few hours before the concert, so we went exploring for something semi affordable. What we found were $15 margaritas.
We also checked out Gorilla Cheese, a fancy grilled cheese food truck. This reminded me a lot of the Happy Grilled Cheese, a food truck down in Jacksonville. I got the BBQ chicken grilled cheese, which was absolutely not a letdown. We washed down our cheeses with a $7.50 bottle of water. I get that vendors just want to make as much as they can, but really?
Third Eye Blind was playing with SIlversun Pickups for their Summer Gods Tour. I got lucky and won tickets from Fresh 102.7 back in February, which I was super excited about. I still remember watching VH1 (pre-Flavor of Love days), seeing the How's it Gonna Be video, and being really into the band. Of course, I also had no idea what they were singing in Semi-Charmed Life. Now, I know a little better. Nowadays, Third Eye Blind is my favorite Pandora station, and I highly recommend it if you want a 90s pop throwback.
Third Eye Blind is touring for the 20th anniversary of their self titled debut album, the only album I still own on cassette. Their setlist had just about every song I wanted to hear from them. If they're playing near you, I definitely recommend checking them out! If you're like me and know nothing about today's music, you're in for a real treat.
