Happy 2017! We have officially survived 2016. The thing is, 2016 wasn't too terrible for me. The end of it was a complete disaster for a number of reasons, but I'm looking forward to this year. I'm also super happy that the holidays are over - they can be a really lonely, miserable time of the year.
Each year, I end up dragging myself out for New Year's, only to spend the night wishing I was at home watching TV. This year I figured I would be staying home and thinking about everyone else out having a great time. I think we put too much pressure on NYE to be the "best night ever," and it never works out that way. Either way, my friend Nick hosted a party at his place, so I threw on my NYE best. This jacket is only appropriate one night a year and it doubles as a disco ball if you shine a light on it - seriously.
I had ordered these awesome "Fuck 2016" glasses, but since Florida is terrible, USPS lost them. My friend Hannah had ordered these amazing cupcake toppers on Etsy, so the night was saved. I popped them on top of my Nutella cupcakes, and everyone got a big kick out of them.
Hannah also did most of the food prep for the night. We had cheese and crackers...
Tomato pesto flatbreads...
And these terrible ghost pepper chips, which were too painful to have more than one of. But if you like spicy food, go pick them up!
Nick has a big projector in his living room, so we took over and watched music videos of awesome (or not) 90's songs! I got to play DJ, which worked out well considering I don't know any music released in the last year. I've officially become elderly.
The night was a ton of fun, as I'm sure your NYE part was. For the first year in a LONG time, I wasn't upset that I wasn't at home watching TV. Next year I'm excited for a NYC New Year that doesn't involved Times Square.
Here's to 2017!
