If you asked me what the number one thing I will miss about Jacksonville is, it's the running community. I've met some amazing people participating in groups runs and races with 1st Place Sports and Jacksonville Running Company. I've also gotten the chance to test out some pretty sweet gear, like the 2XU compression sleeves.
2XU swung by our group run last week and brought lots of gear - compression tights, socks, shorts, and sleeves. Since I have a thing about compression socks (aka...big feet), I went with the calf sleeves.
Compression gear is recommended for most runners, especially ones who are injury prone...like I am. Using the right compression wear gives you added muscle support, performance, and recovery. I always throw on a pair of compression socks (not by choice...) after a long run, since the compression helps my calves heal super quick.
So, what is the verdict? Most people in the group really didn't like the compression stuff, but I loved them. I have Pro Compression socks, and they fit me way too snug to be comfortable. The 2XU calf sleeves were super light, and it didn't even feel like I was running in anything. We had temperatures in the 70s during the run (Florida...), but these were very comfortable and not restrictive.
